Neighborhood Dispute Settlement has established partnerships with several municipalities in Dauphin and Cumberland Counties that value alternative dispute resolution, especially mediation, as a means of resolving disputes among their citizens. These community partners employ the services of NDS as a means of enhancing their community policing efforts.
While individual district magistrate offices are not formal partners with NDS, many district justices make referrals to NDS when the dispute before them cannot be resolved by the application of existing laws -OR- if the judge, in the matter before the court, determines that the interests of justice are better solved by helping the people in conflict resolve their own dispute.
Community Partners help to support NDS through annual Municipal Funding Grants.
